Daniel Baal
Daniel Baal has been Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors since December 2017 and is a member of the Appointments and Compensation committee.
Daniel is a graduate of the Ecole de Commerce Paris Business School, specialising in financial management. He began his career in 1979 as a credit analyst at the Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel in Strasbourg and went on to hold various roles at head office and in the branch network in Strasbourg, Colmar and Mulhouse.
In 1995 Daniel became Head of Lending and Commitments for the southern region at the Caisse Fédérale de Crédit Mutuel Centre Est Europe, and in 1999 was appointed CEO of the Caisse de Crédit Mutuel Mulhouse-Europe.
A keen sportsman, Daniel was Deputy CEO of the Tour de France and head of cycling at Amaury Sports Organisation from 2001 to 2004.
He returned to mutualist banking in 2004 as head of the Caisse Fédérale de Crédit Mutuel Centre Est Europe and went on to become CEO of the Fédération et de la Caisse Régionale du Crédit Mutuel Île-de-France.
Daniel was appointed Deputy CEO of the Confédération Nationale du Crédit Mutuel in 2010 and Deputy CEO of Crédit Industriel et Commercial in 2014. He took over as CEO of the Caisse Centrale de Crédit Mutuel in 2015.
Daniel held several executive positions between 2017 and 2024: CEO of the Caisse Fédérale de Crédit Mutuel, CEO of the Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel, CEO of the Fédération du Crédit Mutuel Centre Est Europe, and a member of the management board of Groupe des Assurances du Crédit Mutuel.
In 2024, he was appointed Chair of the Caisse Fédérale de Crédit Mutuel, the Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel, Crédit Industriel et Commercial and the Confédération Nationale du Crédit Mutuel.
