Eric Charpentier

Eric Charpentier has been Chair of the Board of Directors of Banque de Luxembourg since March 2022. He also sits on the Appointments and Compensation, Audit and Risk Management committees.

A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure,  one of the grandes écoles in France, Éric Charpentier, a mathematics agrégé, holds one of the highest teaching certifications in the French education system. He also has a DEA (5-year post-graduate degree) in operations research, and a specialised master’s degree in financial techniques from ESSEC Business School. He began his career in 1987 at Finansder, the central financing body for regional development companies, where he rose to the position of CEO. In 1998 he moved to Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe as Deputy General Manager in charge of the Finance and Business division and was appointed CEO in 2006.

Éric Charpentier was Deputy CEO and effective manager of Crédit Industriel et Commercial from 2021 to 2024, and Deputy CEO and effective manager of the Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel from 2022. He took over as CEO and effective manager of Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel and the Crédit Industriel et Commercial (CIC) in 2024.

Éric Charpentier also chairs the boards of several Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale entities in France and abroad, including Beobank in Belgium, the Banque de Tunisie in Tunisia and CIC in Switzerland.
