Every year in Belgium, more than 68,000 people are diagnosed with cancer. "Think Pink": October is breast cancer awareness month. To mark the occasion, Banque de Luxembourg's Belgium Branch is once again coming out in support of Maison Re-source. This Brussels-based charity offers a wide range of support to anyone battling cancer, regardless of the hospital in which they are receiving treatment. This October, the charity is launching a series of initiatives to support women with breast cancer.
Maison Re-source (part of the Chirec Delta Center hospital group) seeks to improve the quality of life of patients and their families and help them through their cancer journey. It provides support at any stage of the disease, whether at the time of diagnosis as well as during or after treatment.
The charity offers a variety of workshops, including physical activities and workshops on nutrition and wellbeing. It also organises discussion groups where current and former cancer patients can meet up to share their experiences.
Watch the video below to hear the personal account of Sandra Giunta, a volunteer at Maison Re-source and Senior Private Banker at Banque de Luxembourg in Brussels.
Maison Re-source... helping people through their cancer journey
The charity has created a calm, welcoming space (near the hospital) where patients can listen to or talk with former cancer patients, obtain advice from healthcare professionals or take part in activities designed to help them mentally, physically and socially.
The activities offered are based on studies that all point in the same direction: “By improving their diet, reducing stress and pursuing regular exercise, cancer patients have a better chance of combating the disease,” says Janik Nicodème, Head of Re-source.
A bank committed to society
Our Bank has a unique corporate mindset. We have always placed people at the heart of our considerations and are mindful of our corporate responsibilities, particularly when it comes to our clients and society. “As a Bank, we are committed to our clients. As a patron, we are committed to helping society, especially in Belgium, which offers us the setting in which to grow,” says David Schmidt, Head of Banque de Luxembourg, Belgium Branch.
A people-centric approach
This project is close to our hearts and perfectly aligned with our efforts in Luxembourg, where we are a long-standing partner of the Luxembourg Cancer Foundation. A number of factors impressed us about Maison Re-source’s core mission and brought us together. From the very start, we were impressed by its compassionate approach. “Our clients describe us as a caring Bank. Maison Re-source’s fundamental aim is to offer a warm and welcoming space,” says Sandra Giunta, Senior Private Banker at Banque de Luxembourg and a volunteer with Maison Re-source.
This October, Maison Re-source is launching a series of initiatives in support of women with breast cancer.

We go back a long way...
Life is not always straightforward. Sometimes it takes us on a path we had neither expected nor desired. While life offers plenty of fun moments and exciting projects, there can be challenging times too. “We support our customers through the important stages of their lives in order to protect their wealth for future generations and help them fulfil their plans. You could say that their story is a part of ours,” says Sandra Giunta.
