Pink October: solidarity with patients and their families
Every year in Belgium, nearly 70,000 people are diagnosed with cancer.
Throughout October, the Ligue contre le Cancer association’s Pink October initiative aims to promote awareness and prevention of breast cancer. To mark the occasion, Banque de Luxembourg Belgium is renewing its commitment to the Maison Re-Source in Brussels, which offers comprehensive care to cancer patients and their families.
Maison Re-Source (part of the Chirec Delta Center hospital group) has set itself the goal of improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their families, at the time of diagnosis as well as during treatment, convalescence and post-treatment follow-up. It offers a range of workshops for patients, including physical activities, nutrition and well-being workshops, and discussion groups for sharing experiences.
Maison Re-Source: helping people through their cancer journey
Maison Re-Source provides warm and welcoming premises close to the hospital, encouraging exchanges with other patients, while offering information from health professionals, psychological support and a range of activities.
According to Janik Nicodème, Head of Re-Source, a non-profit asbl, studies show that by “(...) improving their diet, reducing stress and taking regular exercise, cancer patients have a better chance of combating the disease.”

“This partnership is close to our hearts and perfectly aligned with what we do in Luxembourg, where we are a founding partner of the Relais pour la Vie run, organised by the Luxembourg Cancer Foundation.
A number of factors impressed us about Maison Re-Source’s core mission. From the outset, we were struck by the foundation’s compassionate approach. Our clients describe Banque de Luxembourg Belgium as a caring Bank and Maison Re-Source is known for being warm and welcoming,” adds David Schmidt, Managing Director of Banque de Luxembourg Belgium.
