Banque de Luxembourg is celebrating its centenary in 2020. To mark the occasion, we are hosting a photo exhibition, which will be open to the public from 26 October in our headquarters on Boulevard Royal.

We delved into private archives as well as those of the Bank and our shareholder to uncover images that capture the defining moments in our history. Strategic decisions, generations of managers, major architecture projects and the day-to-day life of the Bank are all displayed, in black and white and in colour, within the context of the main historical developments of the time. They reflect our Bank’s commitment to its clients, employees and fellow citizens, as a socially responsible employer and contributor to the economy.

1920-2020: 100 years of banking in Luxembourg

An additional two-year research project exploring the Bank’s history has resulted in an illustrated book (in French and English): 100 Years of Banking in Luxembourg – From From CIAL to Banque de Luxembourg. The ideal companion to the exhibition, it explains the historical background against which our business has grown over ten decades. Based on work carried out by Parisian agency les bâtisseurs de mémoire, it will be available at Reception for visitors to the exhibition and other interested parties. You can also read the book online or order a complimentary copy from our special centenary website:www.banquedeluxembourg100ans.com

Being a centenarian means being the master of one’s own destiny.
It means stepping up to the podium. It means talking about ‘oneself’ in a way that speaks to everyone and, most importantly, telling a story that is broader, more comprehensive and universally relevant. Foreword by specialised agency les bâtisseurs de mémoire in ‘1920-2020: 100 years of banking in Luxembourg – From CIAL to Banque de Luxembourg’.

To view our 100-year history in photos from the archives, visit the Bank’s headquarters at 14 et 14A, boulevard Royal. The exhibition will be open to the public from 26 October, Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5 pm.
