What is the Bank’s position in relation to the challenges of an unpredictable future?
Our very role as bankers means that we are directly exposed to events that impact our economic and financial system. We are the intermediary between savers and those seeking finance. Our duty is not only to protect the Bank itself from exposure to potential difficulties, but also to protect our clients. Throughout its 100-year history, our Bank has withstood turbulent times.
These days more than ever, we are all looking for stable foundations, and dialogue is a key requirement. For clients, trust is now the basis for solid collaboration with their bank. At Banque de Luxembourg, our ethos is built on founding values that hinge on respect and integrity. Our goal is to build exceptional long-term partnerships that provide peace of mind for our private, corporate and professional clients.
In concrete terms, how does this commitment influence the Bank’s approach?
We make sure that our teams continually meet the highest standards of professionalism and that the quality of our services matches our clients’ expectations. Our solutions are developed with care and imbued with common sense. We deliberately steer clear of passing fads and we place the utmost importance on risk management. Occasionally, our cautious approach means we miss out on opportunities for gains, but at the same time, it protects us against subsequent excessive corrections. All our expertise is channelled into preserving the tangible and intangible assets entrusted to us by our clients.
How is Banque de Luxembourg helping to build a better world?
For many years, we have been committed to participating in our community and maintaining constant dialogue with our stakeholders. We became a certified B Corp in 2023 and are currently engaged in the recertification process.
B Corp certification provides a structure for us to manage our commitments more effectively. By becoming part of the B Corp community, we have committed to a journey of continuous, measurable improvement. Likewise, our Articles of Association explicitly include safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders, comprised of clients, employees, our shareholder and society as a whole. This commitment underpins all our activities and aligns with our positioning as an attentive Bank. It also dovetails perfectly with the policies of our shareholder, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale.
The abrupt and fundamental changes currently facing humanity are creating a clear and urgent need to adapt and protect ourselves. The defence of our freedoms and our democratic systems is suddenly centre stage. Together, we must assume our responsibilities and prepare for the challenges ahead.
