As in 2021, due to ongoing Covid uncertainty, the Fondation Cancer is organising another virtual Relay for Life, on 26 and 27 March 2022.

Founded 28 years ago, the Fondation Cancer’s mission is to support cancer patients and their families with a multidisciplinary professional team, to prevent cancer through information campaigns, to finance research and training, and to provide grants.

Relay for Life – new format, same solidarity

The Relay for Life is an inspirational event, held annually to raise awareness among the general public and authorities, in which team members take it in turns to cover a course over a 24-hour period, symbolising the long journey of the cancer sufferer. The ongoing Covid uncertainty has again forced the organisers to hold a virtual edition: on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March.

Participants will walk, run or cycle the distance of their choice, at the time and place that suits them best (e.g. in the countryside, urban neighbourhood, company site or school grounds), for a total of 24 hours over the weekend. The selfies and videos posted on the Fondation Cancer's social networks will be a testament to their solidarity with the patients! The event will be live-streamed for everyone to share in key moments of this community-led weekend.

In Luxembourg, around 3,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year and it is estimated that more than 13,000 residents are living with the disease today. Our aim is to continue to support patients, research and prevention.Lucienne Thommes, Director of the Fondation Cancer

Showing you care means engaging and making a commitment.

As a partner from the outset and aware of its responsibilities as a leading bank, Banque de Luxembourg is taking part in the Relay for Life 2022 with financial support but especially with personal support: it will field two teams of runners who will take turns throughout the weekend to achieve their goal. Their commitment goes hand in hand with a fundraising campaign devoted entirely to the Fondation Cancer to finance various projects.
