Strategy
Investment objective and policy
BL-Global 50 invests around 50% of its assets in bonds and money market instruments and 50% in equities. Geographically, the fund invests in Europe and the United States, and from time to time in Japan and the emerging markets. The fund's aim is to achieve better returns than the bond markets, while keeping well below the volatility associated with pure equity investments.Management report - 3rd Quarter 2020
Equity markets continued to bounce back in the third quarter, extending their rally since the historic slump in March. From July to September, the MSCI All Country World Index net total return expressed in euros gained 3.6%. The political and monetary authorities' massive support programmes were the main factor driving the share-price rebound despite the economic damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the bond portfolio, the J.P. Morgan Government Bond Index EMU Unhedged LOC was up 1.7%, benefiting from the expansion of the central banks' asset purchase programmes. The price of gold (expressed in euros) appreciated by 2.0%. The NAV of BL Global 50 (retail accumulation share net of fees in euros) grew by 1.9% during the third quarter. With equity markets becoming increasingly expensive, the fund continues to apply a defensive management strategy. At the end of September, the fund was 43.5% invested in equities, with 9.5% of this allocation hedged through the sale of futures. The bond segment, amounting to 23.5% of the portfolio, was composed entirely of German government bonds, with an average duration of 5.0. Certificates investing in precious metals accounted for 21% of the portfolio. The equity portfolio's geographic allocation was as follows: Europe 25.5% (8% hedged), United States 9.5% (1.5% hedged), Japan 6% and emerging markets 2.5%.General information
