Management report - 1st Quarter 2021

Equity markets continued to forge ahead in the first quarter of 2021, buoyed by the prospect of a strong acceleration in global growth. This was reflected in the MSCI All Country World Index net total return expressed in euros gaining 8.9%. The leading sectors were energy, banks and industrials, profiting from investors' enthusiasm for cyclical and discounted stocks. On the other hand, sectors that were the winners in recent years, such as technology, lagged behind. The portfolio's defensive positioning prevented BL Global Equities from benefiting fully from the fair winds on the equity markets, and the fund's NAV (retail accumulation share net of fees in euros) grew by 3.9% over the quarter. Within the portfolio, the weighting of defensive stocks, which had come under heavy pressure at the end of February/beginning of March, was slightly increased. At the individual stock level, new positions were opened in Nestlé, eBay, Stanley Black & Decker, Calbee, Yakult Honsha, Samsung Electronics and CP All. The positions in Beiersdorf, Henkel, Sage, Coca-Cola, Fanuc, Sysmex, Kose, Tsingtao and Kimberly-Clark de Mexico were sold. At the end of March, the fund was 95.8% invested in equities and 4.2% in cash. The portfolio's geographic allocation ended the quarter as follows: Europe 35.5%, US 37.2%, Japan 10.5% and emerging markets 12.6%.
