4 February - World Cancer Day: Banque de Luxembourg Belgium gets involved
Every year more than 70,000 people in Belgium are diagnosed with cancer. On World Cancer Day, marked every year on 4 February, Banque de Luxembourg Belgium is reaffirming its solidarity with those affected by the disease by renewing its support for the Re-source Chirec Delta Centre in Brussels, a non-profit association that provides comprehensive support for patients and their families.
A supportive framework for the sufferer, as well as their relatives, is an important complement to medical care, from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment and during the post-treatment follow-up phase. The mission of the Re-source Chirec Delta Centre is to improve the quality of life of patients and their relatives to help them through a difficult period in their lives.
Among the services offered, the patient can choose a physical activity such as yoga, Nordic walking, Qigong and others, as well as a workshop focusing on nutrition and well-being. In addition, there are many places where people can meet up and talk to former patients, health professionals and other supportive people and organisations.
Helping people through their cancer journey
According to Janik Nicodème, Head of Re-source, studies show that “by improving their diet, reducing stress and taking regular exercise, cancer patients have a better chance of combating the disease.” The centre is located near the hospital to promote easy access and provides a tranquil setting where people can talk and share with others, to help the patient recharge emotionally, physically and socially, throughout their treatment period and afterwards.
A strong commitment
As a logical extension of its longstanding partnership with the Cancer Foundation's Relay for Life in Luxembourg, Banque de Luxembourg Belgium has been supporting Re-source since 2019, making the fight against cancer an important strand of its CSR commitment. “Our clients describe us as a caring Bank. And Maison Re-source is known for being warm and welcoming,” adds Patrick Descamps, Senior Private Banking Adviser, Banque de Luxembourg Belgium.
Our clients have shaped our history... and we theirs
Life does not always follow a straight line. It can sometimes take an awkward turn that we never imagined or desired, with moments of joy as well as more challenging episodes. “We support our clients through the important stages of their lives in order to protect their wealth for future generations and help them fulfil their plans. You could say that their story is a part of ours,” says Patrick Descamps.
