Activate your Visa Debit card
The range of cards offered by Banque de Luxembourg includes Visa Debit – the payment card for day-to-day purchases.
How to activate your Visa Debit card?
- By withdrawing cash free of charge from any ATM in the eurozone*
- By making an in-store purchase: insert your card in the payment terminal and enter your PIN
Once you have completed one of these two steps, your card is activated, making it eligible for contactless payment, online purchases and Apple Pay.
*As of 23 January 2026, Banque de Luxembourg will no longer operate ATMs. This service will be provided by our branch located at 14, Boulevard Royal, from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.
Your advantages with Visa Debit:
- Secure online shopping, as transactions will be validated using your ‘LuxTrust Mobile’ app
- Insurance cover for your online purchases (delivery cover on goods purchased online: up to €1,000 per claim and €2,000 per year)
- Payments and withdrawals can be made worldwide, wherever Visa cards are accepted
- Visa Debit also comes with contactless technology to make your payments easier
Do you want to make online purchases with your Visa Debit card?
In order to benefit from enhanced security when making online payments, you must link your VISA Debit card to your LuxTrust certificate. You can do so via your E-Banking and in the BL Mobile Banking application.
